Canadian reacts to English Wine

As a Canadian living in England, I love trying British drinks and food! Recently I realized I hadn’t tried English wines… so here we are! If you have a favourite English wine (or British wine!) let me know!!

It’s been a few years* now but I did a bit of research when I applied for a job at a wine bar.**
The label would usually mention the grape variety and the type of wine. Wine grapes are red and the colour depends on how long the liquid stays in contact with the grape pulp after pressing — whites are separated quickly and reds spend a long time in contact with pulp absorbing more of the colour and flavour of the grapes. The composition of the soil also influences how it tastes so more expensive wines will provide that information.
I know that wines made from Chardonnay grapes are famous for having more mellow flavours.
If you’re interested you can find books about the range of wines available.
*Depending on how you define “few” 😉
**Got an interview but didn’t get the position.

Ps.
When it comes to alcohol I have a sweet tooth so my favourite wine was Canadian ice wine. However, I can’t drink anymore because I’m on medication that doesn’t mix well with alcohol.
