I get a lot of questions from future expats, and one of the most common is: how do you pack when moving abroad? What should you bring with you and what should you expect to re-buy?
What a good question!
This week I wanted to go over how to pack when moving abroad and some of my favourite tips when packing. It can be a really overwhelming challenge, thinking about how you’re going to get all your belongings to a new country – but it’s totally possible! You just need to be a bit creative…
I also wanted to add that I’ve created an Amazon Storefront where you can see some of my favourite books, movies, Canadian goodies, skin care, Youtube equipment and Eat This treats! Any items bought through my store gives me a few cents commission, so it’s always appreciated.
This week I wanted to share some British misconceptions about Canada!
I stream video games live on Twitch each week and the mainly-British audience shared some of the things they thought about Canada. Essentially: what do you picture when you think of Canada? Snow? Moose? Poutine? Mounties?
Here are some of the most common British misconceptions about Canada that came up. It really is a wonderful country and I hope you can visit it one day.
This week I went to B&M and bought some weird British sweets that I’ve never tried before! Did it end in disaster? Pretty much. For my American and Canadian friends, B&M is a shop that sells non-perishable food, plus some toiletries, crafts, random small homeware stuff.. it’s a pretty weird store.
You have to give it to the UK, though. It certainly has tons of unique candy and junk food. I’m on a quest to try them all..!
Let me know how you would have rated these snacks!
After living as an expat in England for the last 3 years, I thought it might be helpful to share what not to do as an expat! Some of these are specific to England, but most can be used for any country – even moving to Canada.
Have you lived in a different country? Let me know some things you think others should avoid doing when they move!
