Liebster Award for Adventures + Naps

Thoughts from Alanna…

Leibster Award for Adventures and Naps

This week I’m very honoured to be nominated for the Liebster Award from Chasa Travels! This award is a great way to support fellow bloggers and showcase work from around the world.

Make sure to check out Chasa’s blog to follow her latest adventures from her home base in the USA. She’s got some great insight to places all around the United States and abroad, plus some beautiful photos! Chasa has provided 11 questions which I’ve answered below – enjoy!

1. What inspired you to start blogging?

A: Back in October 2015 with my quickly approaching move to England, I decided to get back into writing by starting up Adventures and Naps! I wanted a new hobby that would still connect me with my friends and family back home and keep up my writing (plus I love a project). I think the blog has helped me accomplish both!

2. What was your favourite place to travel to?

A: I really do love travelling around England. There is so much to see in such a small and diverse country that every village has its own feel (and accent). A more exotic favourite location would have to be Italy. Italian history, architecture and food is unbelievable and there’s still so much I need to see!

3. What was your worst experience traveling?

A: Getting sick sucks! I remember laying in my hostel bed in Berlin while a bunch of friends went to the city-centre to watch Berlin win the World Cup. I seriously thought I was going to die and was so upset that I missed all the celebrations. At least I saw fireworks from my bed in my delirium…

England does tea and cakes right.

4. What is your favorite thing about traveling?

A: I love learning about different cultures and histories while shoving my face full of local food and drinks. I honestly think it’s so important to expand your perspective of the world and understand how different people live.

5. What advice would you give to new bloggers?

A: Enjoy it! If you write for money, it probably won’t happen. Write about what excites you and enjoy the experience along the way. It’s also great to connect with other bloggers as much as possible to learn how to expand your writing, style or photography.

6. What is one item you would suggest for travelers to bring on a trip?

A: A good backpack. Find one that’s comfortable and a good size so you always have what you need. I’m so thankful for my pack – it’s not too big so I can’t overfill it and ruin my back, either.

7. What is one tip you would give to a new traveler?

A: Go with the flow. There’s no point in being upset about getting rained on, lost or having plans fall through. Just go with it! You may even have a better time than you expected.

8. What is your favorite way to travel? Plane, train..etc.

A: Long distances? Fly. I feel like I’ve finally gotten flying down to a science. But short distances? I always love to walk. There’s so much you can find and see when you’re on your feet. Just wear good shoes!

9. Where is one place you want to visit that you haven’t?

A: There are so many that I can’t pick just one! Japan, Iceland, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, Thailand, Sweden, Egypt, Morocco, Greece…

10. What is your go to souvenir?

A: Scarves. I don’t know why, but ever since my first time abroad I’ve always bought a scarf or two. Now I have some from Spain, Germany and England!

11. How do you feel about hostels?

One of my favourite hostels in London - Astor Hyde Park

One of my favourite hostels in London – Astor Hyde Park

A: Hostels are a great opportunity to save money while you’re travelling. However, make sure to do your research and find a decent and clean hostel in a safe area. If you’re lucky, you might be able to meet other travellers as well!

Thanks again to Chasa Travels for her nomination – I really appreciate all the support. I’ll be looking at nominating other blogs to share the love and I’ll announce them shortly!
